"For six days and 10 events, I chased Beto from west to east across the state — a sliver of this mostly rural tour that began in his hometown of El Paso last month and traces the perimeter of the state, including the border with Mexico, before ending near Dallas in September.
And when I say chased, I mean it. The man drives as if he’s a criminal trying to lose a tail, easily going 95 to 100 mph at times.
“If we want to create 30 minutes to eat lunch, we gotta drive fast,” he says, devouring a chocolate-dipped ice cream cone at a Dairy Queen. (A week after I left him, police pulled him over outside of Galveston and warned him to slow down.)"

O'Rourke, who was previously arrested for drunk driving, would do well to consider the safety of all Texans as he travels to events.

the cops warned him!!!! Anyone doing 100 mph should be arrested and thrown in jail and bail should be astronomical. This criminal is a deadly monster but he's a lib and so he gets special treatment.
 
In Texas the posted speed limit on many rural interstate highways is 85 mph. If he was driving on I-10 in West Texas where the road is straight, traffic relatively light, and there is no cross traffic, I could see that. Anywhere else, he's suicidal.

PS - legal or not 85 mph is only for psychopaths. The national speed limit should be 45.

Heck, I once drove - in my Z/28 - at well over 100 mph for about 20 minutes going up Route 218 in Iowa.
Slowing down only when we went through a town.
Hey - me and my buddies just HAD to make last call in I.C. (Iowa City).
(sadly, we did not make it. My motor gave up when we got to I.C..)

And I cannot tell you the number of times I drove drunk.
Dozens and dozens.
Never hit a thing or got caught.
Though that was years ago.

Unlike you MADD bunch.
I do NOT believe in proactive law enforcement.
Frankly, I believe it is illegal and un-Constitutional.

Throw me in jail for years.

if the fucking idiots driving and texting in the left lane would stay to the right, many people on schedules would slow down. 100mph is not a big deal in Wyoming or Montana where one might not see a car for hours
