The day after a horrific shooting spree by what appears to be a radicalized Muslim man and his partner in San Bernardino, California, Attorney General Loretta Lynch pledged to a Muslim advocacy and lobbying group that she would take aggressive action against anyone who used "anti-Muslim rhetoric" that "edges toward violence."

Speaking to the audience at the Muslim Advocates' 10th anniversary dinner Thursday, Lynch said her "greatest fear" is the "incredibly disturbing rise of anti-Muslim rhetoric" in America and vowed to prosecute any guilty of what she deemed violence-inspiring speech.

"The fear that you have just mentioned is in fact my greatest fear as a prosecutor, as someone who is sworn to the protection of all of the American people, which is that the rhetoric will be accompanied by acts of violence," she said.

"Now obviously this is a country that is based on free speech, but when it edges towards violence, when we see the potential for someone lifting that mantle of anti-Muslim rhetoric

Every time there's an Islamist attack in this country there's an almost reflexive 'we must protect innocent Muslims' outcry from the left. Except in this instance it's the AG doing it.

The problem is the predicted abuse against Muslims never occurs [sorry, anti-Muslim rhetoric doesn't count] to the extent it's a 'national problem' that requires some special laws or policing.

The OP is the same old same old attempt to grant a minority special priviledges. Say the San Bernadino shooting would have been as the left hoped, and it actually involved PP and a Christian group. Do you think Lynch would say her 'greatest fear' would be anti Christian rhetoric turning into anti Christian violence?

Lynch needs to chill on her own rhetoric. It's reprehensible that the US AG would use the threat of federal power to encroach on First Amendment rights.

What a jacked up administration. This country needs some fundamental transformation in reverse, and we need it quick.

Absolutely.....the left essentially is the fith column in this struggle against islamic jihad.....in their misguided effort to assume the mantel of moral superiority(oh we must take care of the poor suffering muslims) they have enabled ISIS to not only to come here but now to begin operations....does anyone believe that the attack in San Bernardino does not signal the beginning of a ISIS campaign in America?

Equally as outrageous as the liberal/pc/democrats is the cowardly congress.....just as much coinfused as the general population and unwilling or too cowardly to call a Rogue President to account for his stupidity, malfeasance and or as Trump says his 'sinister' nature....whatever... there can no longer be any doubt he is part of the problem....definitely has no solution. Declaring war on 'mass shootings'..........how utterly ridiculous, how outrageously stupid.....then almost at the same time....he tells everyone to have a merry christmas.....can you imagine FDR going before the nation after Pearl Harbor and telling everyone to have a Merry Christmas! Will the people ever wake up....or continue to be so obsessed with their personal lives and watching football that they simply shrug off any sort of concerted effort to try and get congress to eject this pos that is currentlly not only stinking up the White House but endangering the whole country?

An American living in a ME won't get hateful rhetoric, they'd get their throats slit and beheaded.......and thats not rhetoric, thats reality.

Your mother didn't drill, "Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you!" into you? Saying that Islamacist terrorism is "bad" is not the root cause of terrorism, nor will stopping people from saying it be the cause of its end. It never will be.
