Are there no more Reagans left?

OK, I have been passively watching all of this "gloom and doom" talk the past couple of weeks. My question is, "Where is the leader who can reassure the American people (and by and large the rest of the world) that things will work themselves out?" It hasn't been George Bush. It hasn't been John McCain. It hasn't been Barak Obama. No one seems to want to take the bull by the horns and say anything seemingly positive like they mean it. I italicized that last part because I have seen all three men try to be positive but none of them convinces me that they mean it.

I know that I will get blasted by some for this but with Reagan you had a leader. You had someone who could make you feel better about the situation no matter how bleak it may have looked. Things may have worked out for him so that he appears to be better than he actually was to fools like me but I never felt the doom and gloom (that seems to be gripping this country now) when he was president.

My theory is that the country is run by civil servants and gnomes in washington dc.

So who we elect has less effect than we like to think.

Ronnie was an actor. He could "look" like a leader with the best of them.

Maybe we should elect actors and salesmen instead of lawyers and corporate people?

It isn't run by the Gnomes, the Gnomes just steal the Bureaucrats' underwear making them testy and uncomfortable and in need of far more burnt and pre-ground coffee which in turn makes them more testy and proves they have no taste.

Rubbish!

we have a guy like reagan right now.

No one believes that bullshit cowboy crap anymore.

Name him please. Name a person who can instill the kind of pride an confidence that Reagan did. I really don't think he exists.

I don't think Bush is anywhere near what Reagan was.

And I am no big fan of Reagan. But Bush is a total loser who couldn't create policy if his life (or ours) depended on it.

And Bush cannot inspire people or provide the leadership we need. Ronnie was an idiot much of the time. But he made it seem like he was out front leading us, instead of waving at us from a balconey behind us.

What Reagan had that was great may not have been concrete. It may have been all smoke and mirrors. But it was good for us psychologically.

JUst as the fear we have now is fuelling this economic meltdown.

Hey citizen what did I tell you about posting after I post? Stupid groupie stalker.

Yeah I should have listened to you when you praised Bush or told me how great the economy was doing ?

Tell me again why I should take you seriously ?

and don't feel flattered. I am not stalking you just stalking stupidity.
I can't help it if you and it are one and the same can I ?

Sol, imho it is a matter of direction. Bush was great at getting the vast majority of us hyped up to invade Iraq...
And he did get reelected.

But he did both of those things by exploiting fears. That doesn't work to inspire confidence.

Its like the difference between someone who can scare you into doing something and someone who can convince you to charge into a situation.

As I meant by direction. But lots of people wanted to have a beer with him.
