"House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy had a “positive” call with Donald Trump Friday from the release of audio in which he suggested the president should resign shortly after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection."

"In the audio McCarthy is heard discussing with House Republicans the Democratic effort to remove Trump from office after the president’s supporters stormed the Capitol. In the recording of a Jan. 10, 2021, discussion, McCarthy says he would tell Trump, “I think it will pass, and it would be my recommendation you should resign.”

"McCarthy released a statement Thursday calling the report “totally false and wrong.” His spokesman, Mark Bednar, told the newspaper, “McCarthy never said he’d call Trump to say he should resign.”

"But on Friday, the Times released another recording, this time of a Jan. 11, 2021, Republican conference call. In the audio, McCarthy can be heard telling his caucus that he had asked the former president if he felt responsible for the deadly insurrection and that Trump acknowledged some responsibility. In the same conversation, McCarthy told his colleagues he doubted Trump would take the advice to step aside rather than be pushed.

“That would be my recommendation,” McCarthy is heard saying, “I don’t think he will take it, but I don’t know.”

"McCarthy worked swiftly to shore up support among Republicans, calling and texting many lawmakers about his conversation with Trump as he rushed to contain the fallout."

“I asked him personally today, does he hold responsibility for what happened?” McCarthy says on this recording. ”Does he feel bad about what happened? He told me he does have some responsibility for what happened and he’d need to acknowledge that.”

Got to love it, got caught twice dissing the Messiah, and then got snagged again for flat out lying about it, too funny. Now he has to kiss the ring and explain himself to all the faithful

Certainly doesn't need to worry too much about the lying, as we all know, honest isn't an admirable character trait on the right, but pissing off the Don could be trouble, especially with Scalise and Jordan, both royal Trump ass kissers, just waiting in the wings to take over leadership

And to think this is the same guy who referred to the events of January 6th as "unAmerican"

A positive call with Trumpy? He probably couldn't understand a damn word trump bellowed. He slurs his speech so much.

I had a lot of good laughs yesterday listening to that tape and visualizing Liz hitting "record" after Kev asked "you here Liz?" "oh yeah, I'm here kev".

Better reread the post there "anatta," isn't about January 6th, but rather McCarthy caught in a vice now after it has been revealed he dissed Trump, and how he now has to answer to the Messiah and explain himself to the base

Remember when Kevin McClown got so upset because Pelosi rejected his appointments to the Jan 6 committee? And he said he and the Republicans will do their own investigation. I wish someone would ask him how that's going.

Kevin, in particular, appears to look drained and rancid as a result of his treasonous efforts to wage war on America.
