Usama bin Laden appeared to be reaching for a weapon before being shot by a team of U.S. commandos at his compound in Pakistan, a senior U.S. official told Fox News.

The detail was among many disclosed Tuesday that helps fill out the narrative of the events leading up to the 40-minute raid that ended with bin Laden's death.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on Tuesday said that bin Laden was unarmed when U.S. forces arrived.
 
They needed a reason besides 9/11 and a decade of searching?

there were weapons in the room, osama's wife lunged at the seals and obscured the seal's view of osama, it was difficult to tell whether he was armed or not or maybe wearing a suicide vest - there was plenty of time for osama to prepare for the seals since he was on the third floor and the seals had to get past various barriers to get to the third floor and made noise doing so, not to mention the shots fired in the courtyard - finally, there has been no mention that he tried to surrender

Or, new theory here, they were ordered to kill him and retrieve the body. Which they did.

Interesting how releasing propaganda from OBL won't possibly cause anybody to be inspired but pictures of actual evidence of his death mean we're doomed. It's awesome how we kill the guy so he won't incite violence through propaganda, then when he's dead won't produce pictures because it might incite violence, then release the propaganda we were trying to avoid anyway.

I can't say i'm not a little disappointed that the lair of the world's leading terrorist featured such a shite telly. I mean, i wasn't expecting a plasma screen or anything but that looks no bigger than a 15'' screen. He actually deserves to have been shot for that alone.

Well, that and there wasn't even a viewable shot of him watching himself on TV. Plus why die your beard for a video, then get other videos of you looking older than Moses watching yourself in your nicely dyed beard?

I imagine that in his position i'd want to ration my remaining stocks of Just For Men beard dye.
