Yes exactly, it's the likes of Merkel abandoning nuclear power and refusing to frack for gas that's resulted in their dependence on Russia for gas. Putin would have never had the money to build up his military otherwise. Oh and let's not forget the role of the incredibly dopey Greens in all of this as well. It comes to something when even Soros blames her.

Angela Merkel's 'special deals' with Moscow blamed for Europe's dependence on Russian gas

Merkel has been blasted by philanthropist George Soros for "special deals" she made with Moscow which enabled Europe to become dependent on Russian gas.

The ex-German Chancellor was slammed by Mr Soros for her “mercantilist policies” while he addressed the World Economic Forum on Tuesday.

He said: “Europe’s dependence on Russian fossil fuels remains excessive, due largely to the mercantilist policies pursued by former Chancellor Angela Merkel.

“She had made special deals with Russia for the supply of gas and made China Germany’s largest export market.”

meh Nordstream 2 is a natural pipeline route, and Russia a natural trading partner
They are going nuts attacking the Russia economy, and no way are they going to get oil or LNG cheaper

But then again they were using wood pellets..FUBAR

what energy policy? they are still using the same policy.
They are going to wind up paying more and need to build terminals
The war aid was supposed to defend Ukraine, not war against Russia by the west.
Everyone has lost their shit in frantic attempts to "degrade" Russia - and not just militarily.
We are at war with Russia.. Europe gets to pay more

the funny part is Ukraine will lose transit fees as Europe curtails Russian supplies
But Uncle Sucker will make Ukraine up for that and more -we got us a new adoptee and it has "needs"

It was always on the cards that Putin would use gas as a weapon and thus it's come to pass.
 
Merkel was deeply terrible for both Germany and Europe.....but look at how few are capable of comprehending.
