I believe that owning personal responsibility is the foundation of a strong society.

When individuals take ownership of their actions, they take responsibility for their own lives. Without it, emotions and dependency take hold.

Life isn’t fair, it never has been, nor will it ever be. Cope.

Practice self reliance, discipline, and perseverance, not emotional "thinking".

The more society is expected to “help,” the weaker personal initiative becomes.

Dependency, victimhood culture, and an entitlement mindset erodes self-reliance.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither, nor are they likely to get them.

History tells us that a society built on personal responsibility thrives.

Why? Because when individuals hold themselves to high standards, they set an example for others to follow, and the result is a stronger society. The effect is heritable.

The most successful people in history overcame adversity through their refusal to accept failure.

Choose wisely, if you can.

Agreed.

Disagree. Dependency is not a function of personal responsibility. A person with a disability through no fault of their own needs help.

Life isn’t fair, it never has been, nor will it ever be. Cope.

That is no reason to abandon the concept of civilization. Civilization is precisely why we survive as a species. We are a SOCIAL animal which means we survive BECAUSE we care for each other as a group.

That's 100% why you and I are even here today.

Practice self reliance, discipline, and perseverance, not emotional "thinking".

It is a good thing to be self-reliant but all good things can become pathologies if practiced to the exclusion of everything else.

The more society is expected to “help,” the weaker personal initiative becomes.

No, this is 100% why society exists. It is, in fact, why YOU ARE ALIVE TODAY. The ONLY reason you survive today is because you are part of a SOCIETY which helps and benefits you directly every single second of every single day.

You are no more "self-made" or "self-sufficient" than anyone else on this planet.

Dependency, victimhood culture, and an entitlement mindset erodes self-reliance.

False dichotomy.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither, nor are they likely to get them.

Nice try to recast the old saw. You give up liberty every second you exist and that is why you survive on this planet. Just accept that you are a social animal. You couldn't survive by yourself on the savannah for more than a few minutes without all the bennies society and other humans provide you. By yourself you're what lions call "an easy meal".

History tells us that a society built on personal responsibility thrives.

Not the way you're thinking of it,

The most successful people in history overcame adversity through their refusal to accept failure.

Not all of them. In fact very few of them. Scratch any given billionaire and you'll find that they aren't a self-made genius superbusiness person. They are a lucky fucker who got someone to invest in them when they were nothing. No one is "self-made", least of all the people who blather on about how they are self-made.

That's a lie the weak-minded tell themselves to make themselves feel more important. They are wrong 9 times outta 10
