The so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill (read it here: https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2022/1557/BillText/er/PDF ) does nothing of the sort.
Why is the left lying?
Scott McKay rightly calls it an “anti-grooming bill” @ The American Spectator.
Like sectarian instruction, adults indoctrinating small children about homosexuality and transgenderism does not belong in a tax-supported educational institution.
Why do so many teachers (whose powerful unions support the DEMOCRAT Party) wish talk to little kids about alternative sexual practices?
The part of the Florida bill that leads leftist know-nothings to label it “Don’t Say Gay” reads as follows: “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”
Yes, all this fuss centers around adult "educators" wanting to talk to prepubescent children about homosexuality and transgenderism away from prying eyes without their parents knowledge or consent.
That strikes the left as a major failing.
Let's try to imagine why.
Other "controversial" aspects of the bill involve parental rights. One provision requires “school districts to notify parents of healthcare services and provide parents the opportunity to consent or decline such services,” while another forbids schools from prohibiting “parents from accessing any of their student's education and health records created, maintained, or used by the school district.”
