Decades of brainwashing have meant that its elected representatives no longer need even the iron grip of the main gun lobby, the National Rifle Association, to oppose the slightest legislation that would provide a framework for this particularly lucrative market. The defense of the Second Amendment right to bear arms, understood in its most absolutist sense, has become a quasi-sacred duty that now escapes any questioning. The families of victims must be content with the prayers of elected officials, who are not stingy with them.”

Republicans are weak minded that's why they admire people like trump. Republicans cannot think for themselves therefore they need someone anyone even if its a total moron to tell them what to do.

I hate guns. But im not going to delude myself "gun control"is going to stop this

harden the target, increase the use of red flag laws. reduce the capacity of clips if you want.
But this -to be perfectly honest and crude is what is called a "turkey shoot" - no disrespect but that term fits

So arm the select teachers that want it, and harden the schools.

The goal of the gun lobby is to maximize weapons sales - with their liabilty legislated away, gun manufacturers don't have to worry. They have cover.

Repugs accept tons of cash from the gun lobby. It's their gravy train. Why should they protect our children, they just want to get reeelected.

The NRA is just a figurehead now. The Republicans don't need the NRA to be evil. They're doing that all on their own now.. just ask Gregg Fucking Abbott.
