This needs to be emphasised much more, China is far more dependent on Taiwan than is generally realised.

Xi has been warned by economic analysts that a war with Taiwan would devastate China's economy and push it off its cliff edge.

President Xi Jinping has ramped up war rhetoric against Taiwan in recent weeks, amid concern among Western intelligence that an invasion is forthcoming. However, Heritage Foundation national security expert James Carafano warned that China's economy cannot handle "another shockwave". Speaking to Fox Business, Mr Carafano said that an invasion of Taiwan "would be devastating to the Chinese economy".

China would probably like to see a lot of its population starve to death. I say that partly based on their one child policy.

The destruction of Taiwan chip manufacturing would hurt the rest of the world ... more than it would China, IMO.
