FBI arrests GOP upstate New York election official over alleged absentee ballot fraud scheme
Jason Schofield, elections commissioner at the Rensselaer County Board of Elections, faces a 12-count indictment

If convicted, Schofield would face up to 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and a term of post-imprisonment supervised release of up to 3 years on each of the 12 counts.

Troy councilwoman has now resigned after pleading guilty to three federal counts of voter fraud.

Kimberly Ashe-McPherson, a Republican, admitted to fraudulently casting an absentee ballot in last year’s primary election and two such ballots in the general election.
