About time, Mr. President!

The pressure is really on Republicans. Dems have all ready made substantial concessions on spending cuts. Republicans have, in the recent past, been absolutely adamant about not cooperating or compromising with the Obama administration but if they don't compromise on the revenue side of the issue and a default occurs with the expected economic consequences then the public will hold Republican responsible.

Not as much. While that'd be the ideal view to hold (if you agree that tax increases are needed), people generally look at who's in power and blame or praise them irrespective of reality. Of course it doesn't matter a damn in the realtively long term. 2016 is gonna be an...interesting year to say the least.

Republicans are holding the economy hostage over their whacked out social issues.

I just find it fascinating that the people laid off and downsized from corporations that outsource and make record profits are STILL blindly supporting the "get Obama" agenda by the neocon GOP.....why these people continually vote for the corporatists and neocon politicos that screw them over is beyond me.

Now, if Obama can just stop playing chess and keep this attitude, he may just get my vote next year.

Yea I remember when I was an active Republican and we would have strategy meetings about how to use divisive social issues to get moron white hillbilly's to vote Republican. There's a lot to be said for "divide and conquer" as a political strategy. It was cynical as hell but as you can see, quite affective.

Considering what the consequences are for a default....yea....the revenue side has to be addressed. That's a no brainer.

First, its not like you'd vote for anyone else. Second I find it funny that people complain about outsourcing but still expect to be able to buy a new economy car for $15k or or a pair of jeans for $20.

That is because people on both sides essentially want the same thing.

Both want inexpensive goods & services.

Both sides want lower taxes (for themselves).

Neither side wants higher taxes (on them).

Both sides blame the other for the mess we are in.

Speaking for myself, I may not vote for Obama either, if he continues down this path. I'd either write someone in or skip the category.
