A question about Easther?

For my status on FB I posted "Most mornings I am up around 5am, sometimes even earlier. Today, after a long night, I sleep until 8:30. When I start scanning FB, I see about half of my friends posting "He is risen". Yeah, I'm up, I'm up. Can't a guy sleep in every now & then?".

I have gotten a couple of IMs with snarky remarks about my making fun of Easter. Why do people think God has no sense of humor?

Is this the day that Jesus was resurected or is it the day conservatives crucified him?

It is the day that the tomb was found empty. Logic would dictate that he resurrected the night before Easter.

If you translate from the Greek, he was killed the night before the holiest of days of Passover, thus Jesus was killed on Wednesday, spent three nights and three days in the tomb, and was resurrected Saturday night at the end of the Sabbath following Passover. At that time, when the sun rose and the Sabbath was over, the women went to anoint the body and found him to be gone from the tomb.

close..for the Jews the Passover would have started at sunset on Friday.....tradition has it that the three on the cross were hurried along so they would be dead and off the cross before Passover started (hence the spear in his side).....thus the three days would be Friday, before Friday sunset, Saturday (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) and Sunday which could have been anytime after Saturday sunset...

Um... "close"... Passover at that time was a seven day celebration... The first and last days of which were celebrated as full holidays (Yom Tov)... Christ was killed the day after the first day of the celebration after having the first Seder dinner (you'll remember this as the "last supper") he is taken to the Temple, tried and convicted, but not killed until the next day... Wednesday, which was one of the weekday holiday (Chol Ha-Moed) which are not strictly observed like a Sabbath as are the Yom Tov days....

He spent three full nights, and three full days in the tomb, (Wednesday night, Thursday, and Friday nights, Thursday, Friday and Saturday days) resurrecting Saturday night (otherwise it would be four nights in the tomb) and was found "missing" from the tomb by the women on Sunday, the day before the second Seder dinner on the last day of Passover, which they would have eaten on Monday night to end their Passover and is the reason they were even visiting the tomb. Because of the holy day they could not do the anointing of the body on Monday, nor could they do it on Saturday which was the Sabbath...

Diaspora Jews now celebrate this same holiday in 8 days, the first two days and last two of which are the "holy days" (Yom Tov) of this holiday... They changed it to an 8 day holiday because not all Jews were sure when the holiday started (they were told by the Priests and it took time for them all to get the news) and they wanted to make sure all the Yom Tov were celebrated correctly.

What you describe here is the current Catholic explanation of the Friday to Sunday being three days theme. Christ predicted he would be dead for three full days, impossible if he was killed on Friday night and resurrected on Sunday morning...

neither....the first is Easter and the second Good Friday.....no one knows what the fuck Easther is......
Well well....if it isn't the Pontus Pilate of the spelling Nazis!! :)

Damn......I don't know if I was trying to spell Easter or my wifes first name.

I do the same thing at work. It's embarrasing when you ask someone "What did you stabilize the polyesther with?"

No it's the day where you once again confirmed that you're an ass hole.

Why do you have to smear and desecrate the day otherwise if you weren't an ass hole?
Please explaing to me that simply stating the truth is a smear and a desecration? Christ was crucified by conservatives. That's a historical fact.
