There was already bipartisan opposition to their show trial remember? They didn't get one GOP vote and two democrats defected. So far both of those have said they would vote against impeachment but they leave the caveat of "unless something new comes out"

Sort of fitting, given that a sizable section of voters look at impeachment as a partisan food fight lol.
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017

    Hello Darth,

I am an Independent. Here's what I see: Republicans think it is partisan. Democrats know it is about the Constitution.

    The hearings clearly showed this:

The Democrats talked about the events involved with the Ukraine Scandal. They were focused on learning what happened. They were doing their Constitutional duty because only the House has the power of impeachment. If they didn't exercise the authority vested in them, they would be shirking their Constitutional duty and violating their own oaths of office. And there would be nobody else to do it. The Power of Impeachment Rests Solely with the House. That's why the Democrats were all business, and pretty much ignored the Republicans. It was their JOB.

The Republicans tried to be a complete distraction. First of all, they showed zero interest in getting to the bottom or learning all the facts. In so doing, they were violating their oaths of office. They are supposed to protect and defend this nation from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Well, what does a domestic enemy look like if that person becomes President? Republicans showed absolutely ZERO INTEREST in fulfilling their duty to address this question. INSTEAD, they did everything possible to disrupt the hearings, and they railed on and on about completely unrelated garbage-talking about stuff that has NOTHING TO DO WITH the testimony of the witnesses, or Ukraine. REPUBLICANS tried to make a case that is all about Democrats, painting Democrats as the real wrong-doers.

So we have Democrats looking at the case, getting the facts, trying to learn; and Republicans distracting from the case, doing anything BUT learning (their minds were already made up under threat of being tweet-slapped,) Shirking Their Constitutional Duty, and instead of acting as an oversight of the executive function, became the defense acting as their own witnesses, but not being sworn to tell the truth, instead railing off about OPINION.

The reason Republicans are able to get away with being such a disgrace to our Constitution, and their oaths of office, is because Trump fans lack the basic ability to discern fact from opinion.

If Democrats were simply trying to undo the 2016 election the time to have done that would have been back then right after it happened.

Let me put this into terms you can identify with:

Even Democrats are not so stupid that they would wait until a term is nearly over before they try to negate an election.

It is about the Constitution. Your side is violating it, the rest of us are duly abhorred. Those of us who really know what's going on, that is.

You can fool all the people some of the time. You can fool some of the people all the time. But you cannot fool all the people all the time.

And THIS is one of THOSE times.
