Willful ignorance should be called out at every opportunity. There really is no excuse for believing such nonsense when the whole of mankind's intellect, research, history etc is available for anyone interested. Clearly the willfully ignorant are not interested. Unfortunately, many of them hold positions of power which affects the rest of us.

Only Two-Thirds Of American Millennials Believe The Earth Is Round

Millennials in America sometimes get a bad reputation, this time for good reason. A recent survey found that just 66 percent of young adults aged 18 to 24 years old have "always believed the world is round."

YouGov polled 8,215 US adults on February 8th, 2018 to get a representative idea of America's views on the shape of the Earth. What they found would make any scientist shake their heads, a surprising percentage of responders weren't convinced the Earth is round.

The question asked individuals to categorize their thoughts surrounding the shape of the Earth into one of the five buckets below:

I have always believed the world is round
I always thought the world is round, but more recently I am skeptical/have doubts
I always thought the world is flat, but more recently I am skeptical/have doubts
I have always believed the world is flat
    Other/Not sure

The survey found that 2% of Americans firmly believe the Earth is flat, with interesting differences segmented by age, religion, income, and political affiliation.

    This explains a lot
Millenials are the most educated group of people in human history. More of them have college educations than any prior human generation in recorded history.

Old farts trying to make fun of the education of millennials simply does not cut the mustard.

Based on the wording of the question, the smart answer may well have been to hedge one's answer. The earth is not truly round, and I personally think using the word "round" is dubious and a little weird, given that the more precise geometric description is spherical or even oblate. So millennials may well have been showing more sophistication relative to the way the questions were worded, than the other groups. The bottom line is that it is not so easy to leap to a conclusion about the alleged stupidity of millenials, if one really thinks this through and thinks about way in which the poll worded the questions.

I also noticed that conservatives were obviously the group most likely to believe in a flat earth.

Religious beliefs appear to be correlated with one's likelihood to subscribe to a flat Earth. YouGov found that 52 percent of flat earthers consider themselves "very religious."

Seriously folks. The complete ignorance of the average person in this country is a national embarrassment.
That's Republicans and Democrats. The fault, however, lies exclusively with Republicans as between the two.
I mean, insofar as it's a policy problem, Republicans want less money for edumacation and for dumbass parents

What a lying ignorant piece of shit you are. Liberal Democrat controlled Baltimore city, spends more per student than any other large city other than NY, yet has terrible results.

And where is the proof of your claim that 33% of millenials were home schooled, ... that all you racist vile blue-blood liberals ... all parrot in this thread?
