The thing is Republicans had plenty of opportunity to vote for a more qualified GOP candidate in the 2016 primaries, and if they really were dissatisfied with Trumpf they had many chances to advance a primary challenger to Trump in this election cycle.

At this point, it is only reasonable to conclude that Republicans actually admire Trump's stupidity, ignorance, and incompetence, and see him as a soul mate. Trumpf is actually the face of modern conservatism, not an abberation
