I knew most MAGAdopes would miss the point entirely
btw, no one is saying bicycles should or will replace all autos, only that they provide clean transportation
how many times do people take a short drive to work in nice weather, or go to the local convenience store, or go visit a friend, or...etc etc etc in a car when they could bicycle and get healthy, plus save money?
more bicycle use and less reliance on ICE's would be a tremendous help
of course this country is full of regressive captives of big oil like you and will never assist in the effort to reduce carbon emissions, we all know that

I'd think that'd depend on where you live. For much of the US, half the year it's hot and often humid. The other half is wet, cold, even frigid. "Nice" weather is the rarity in many parts of the country.
Then there's a time issue involved. Just as with current fixed route public transportation, bicycling requires more time--substantially more time in many cases--than using a vehicle. That translates to a higher opportunity cost that might make it undesirable.
On the whole, just as public transit is often not the best, or even a viable, option, bicycling is equally high cost low return for most people. That's why most people don't use a bicycle.
many other countries use bicycles for transportation quite successfully. I guess they aren't afraid of chilly weather or light rain/drizzle like you are. stores do sell rain coats and parkas btw
it is true the rural communities, mostly red areas so it'll never happen there anyway, they're not a good transportation solution......but urban populations would benefit greatly if bicycles caught on there, which I doubt they will, but every strategy would help AGW (which you probably don't believe in anyway)

Bike-shaws are really useful transport in cities or within country communities. Kids with no driving licence can ferry old folk to the shops, etc. Electric-assisted versions are increasingly used for short-distance deliveries.

Consumers not consuming what the corporations want them to consume?
Good
Capitalism needs to provide WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT TO BUY
Get it you capitalists
My Tribike costs as much as some used cars. I pollute by flying and driving to events around the country. (jobs and illness)
buying chews and bonk bars, shimano clipless shoes, service calls for repairs and set up, cateye and Garmin smartwatch.
So I feel I'm doing my part. No McDonalds for me though my kid likes happymeals. Many things we do have unexpected economic consequences.

Not all, but most of us do ride our bikes in the snow and rain. We also ride on hot, sunny summer days. We have showers at work because we aren't undomesticated animals. I bring 30 pound bags of dog food onto the bus and carry them over my shoulder between the PetSmart, the stops, and my house. I only buy the groceries that I'm going to eat for the next few days and then go shopping again. I use a backpack and reusable bags. If I'm going to cook a Thanksgiving meal or travel more than 30 miles, I use my car. Otherwise, I start them once a week and that's it.
Tell me: What on this godforsaken planet made you anti-bike? Seriously. Of all the things in existence to oppose, you don't like bike riders? Shut the fuck up.

Most Americans are abject idiots. They're also fat and unfit with little education and no global understanding nor curiosity to understand the globe. I live part time in Boulder, CO. We bike literally everywhere. There is more of a stigma around starting your car, pulling out of your garage, and then showing up back home 15 minutes later than there is about jumping on your bike.

Do the drivers?
I hope that isn't a serious question. How do they do something like bring home ten bags of groceries?
Funny how those Olympics cyclists had no problem yesterday. When you toss in increased exposure to air pollution and accidents, bicyclists seem to be self annihilating.
