Many argue the electoral college was a safeguard to keep the unwashed masses from making a mistake. The electoral college could repair the poor choices. It went wrong. Now it helps the worst candidate win . The Repubs wanted to end the Electoral College many times. Now they see it helps them, it is suddenly is patriotic to keep it. Every time it overruled the popular vote, a red won.

That isn't "thinking." Leftists are incapable of thinking. That's why they parrot the lame, dumb lies the media feeds them.

First and foremost; we do not elect Presidents based on the popular vote for GOOD reasons well beyond your intellectual capacity. Secondly, BillyBob Clinton did not get the majority of the popular vote.

Since 1901, there have been 13 Republican Presidents and only 8 Democratic.

I am amused that you think you know what you are talking about. But, what we do know is that our founders, who are far smarter than any leftist hack like you, knew that this REPUBLIC would not function well if only TWO or THREE high population states decided every election.

This is why you are a crying, lying buffoon on an internet blog.

Do you have any links to repubs pushing to get rid of it?? I think it would be interesting to read their rational...

They were hardly of one mind on much...

Whatever their intentions, this is what we got now....

IMHO our system sucks & is primitive & unrepresentative of the wishes of a majority of Americans & the rich/corporations are best served by it.

Sad that we have 325 million ppl & are served essentially by one party in power......

A more democratic system, LIKE EVERY OTHER DEMOCRACY scares lots of ppl......

Yep. Only single time since the 1980s have Republicans been able to convince a plurality of the nation's voters that their ideas have merit.

And this is the problem. CHEATING using the Electoral College

    Not voter turnout.

People need to stop totally focusing on voting and start focusing on cheating.

    Demand 1 person, 1 vote

    You win the internet today!

It's the only way racist white men can win.

It will continue that way until white America takes a stand.

I'd be open to removing the EC but if and only if we had multiple parties and there'd be a coalition after elections.
But I don't see that happening in my lifetime.
