Default Maher mocks 2020 Democrats, implores Oprah to run:

HBO's Bill Maher implored Oprah Winfrey to run against President Trump in 2020 while expressing doubts about the current crop of 24 candidates on the Democratic side, arguing she is the only "sure-thing winner" for the opposition party.

"I am telling you that at this particular moment in history, in this particular election year, she is the only candidate who is a sure-thing winner for the Democrats," Maher said Friday during his show "Real Time."

    "No pressure," the host added.

Maher also noted the power of candidates who are stars in modern politics.

Never underestimate the power of being in people's living rooms for decades. That's what got Trump elected," Maher said. "This is now an as-seen-on-TV country."

"There really is no underestimating the power of celebrity in modern American politics," he later explained. "It’s not the way it’s supposed to be be, it's not the way I’d like it to be, but we officially live in a post-literate, post-truth, star-f---er society, and this is going to be the dirtiest campaign ever."

Maher, 65, went on to laud Winfrey as the only Democrat who could pull male voters from Trump's staunchly loyal base.

"If he’s fed up with Trump, I know he would vote for Oprah. Because he knows that if he doesn’t, his wife will never blow him again."

Maher also blasted embattled 2020 front-runner Joe Biden, comparing him to a typewriter while teeing off on other top-tier candidates.

"Young people look at him like a typewriter's running for president,"
Maher joked about the former vice president.

He also referred to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as "a three-syllable woman in a one-syllable country," he added.

As for Sen. Bernie Sanders, Maher described him as "an American hero in my book, but he's another one who has his cardiologist on speed dial."

Maher also evaluated South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg's chances.

"We must ask the question 'Is America ready to be led by a gay teenager?'" he joked.

"This is not an open letter to Oprah. I know she isn't running," Maher concluded at the end of his closing monologue.

In related news, the Grand Old Party has only been able to win the popular vote one single time since the long-ago 1980s.

Yep. Only single time since the 1980s have Republicans been able to convince a plurality of the nation's voters that their ideas have merit.

I guess the sad thing in that is the dems can't win even if they get a majority of the votes.
"There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone," McConnell wrote. "His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."

They have won four out of the past seven national elections to include winning the popular vote, and in six out of seven where they won the popular vote, bottom line, more Americans voted for Democrats

And the scary part is that you are celebrating elections where the majority of Americans didn't vote for the guy elected, somewhere along the line I don't think that was quite what Locke, Voltaire, nor Jefferson had in mind

He probably thinks Oprah can get that severe recession he's hoped for going faster than Trump, huh? Oh wait! that was to get Trump removed. I reckon the Oprah thingy would have the same result.

For the record, I AM NOT CELEBRATING anything...........

Personally I think it is high time the electoral college was removed & for that matter the monopoly of two parties (only one in power) pretending to represent the wishes of 325 million ppl..

In America, Presidents have to get the "MAJORITY" of the "STATES." Otherwise the Democrats in New York & California would choose every President, nobody would even bother campaigning in most other states, those states might as well go piss up a rope at Presidential election time. It's amazing how the uninformed just can't see the genius of our founders. It's pathetic!

Bill, LA county doesn't determine who wins the Presidency. They need to win majorities across the map, not just in the lib metro areas.

The founders really did know what they were doing.

Here’s a fun fact. From 1968 - 2008, only one Democratic Presidental candidate won a majority of the vote. One time in 40 years. And that was Carter with 50.1% of the vote. 6 Republicans won with a majority of the vote during that time.

If there’s a point it’s history shows us things ebb and flow.

They don’t bother campaigning in the small states anyway. Except at the beginning where they need momentum.

Nope, as usual, you are wrong. Not the majority of the states, most of the electoral votes. You can win the electoral college with lots fewer states if you get the big ones.

Maher was actually mocking voters. Trump hosted a reality TV show and people thought he was qualified to be president, He thought is that is what works in America, a celebrity TV star as president, who is bigger than Oprah? She is actually really rich, not pretending like Daffy. She really cares about people, not faking it like Daffy. She is smart, not like Trumpy.

I really do not think the framers of the constitution intended to create a system where one political party was routinely losing the popular vote, but still be given complete control of the federal government.
