When the Titanic sank, the bow slipped underwater and the stern rose. The ship was not strong enough to support half of the vessel like that and it broke her in the middle.
For the people clinging to the stern section, when the bow section broke off and relieved the stern section of all that weight, the stern section temporarily floated higher. They must have felt like their prayers were being answered and somehow the ship had stopped sinking and begun to rise up.
For anybody clinging to coal, some increased exports might give them similar temporary hope.
But it's just like the Titanic. Coal is going down.
The increased exports only indicate that foreign countries have not been able to make the capital investments to switch over to natural gas yet.
They will. And just as surely as the people on the stern section of the Titanic were doomed, so is coal.
