The 1st amendment does not apply to anything but Congress. It only applies to the federal government. It prohibits Congress from passing certain laws.
It is directed to Congress, no one else.
It prohibits Congress only from passing certain laws only. No one else.
It does not apply to any individual, group, company, corporation, family, State, city, county, school, or college. It applies ONLY to Congress. It restricts ONLY the Congress.
It does NOT prevent Congress from passing a law enforcing freedom of speech upon a company, website, press, etc. Congress DOES have this authority. It is NOT prohibited by the 1st amendment and IS granted by Article I, $8 (the authority to regulate interstate commerce, that is, to make regular (uniform law) of commerce across the States.
