Default Does the corporate tax rate have an impact on investment?

Just a discussion thread It seems the major sticking point of the tax bill is the corporate tax rate. Democrats in general believe it will have no impact and Republicans believe it will generate additional investment. Why do you believe what you do?

I personally think it will lead to more investments because inversions to lower taxed states are actually happening. It doesnt necessarily have to be to places like Ireland. If I recall correctly Burger King got acquired by a Canadian company so they could take advantage of the 20% tax rate.

It is also quite telling that the European countries are now discussing lowering their tax rates in response to the US tax bill. Even heroes of the left like Macron and Merkel tacitly admit there is a benefit to it otherwise why bother lowering theirs?

Of course it will have an impact. In the same way that raising taxes on cigarettes discourages smoking, lowering taxes on corporations encourages investment. Investing in the workforce is an obvious example. Many major corporations have invested in their workers in the form of bonuses and wage increases. Not even a full year in and Trump is Making America Great Again!

    it does...but it doesn't alone..
If you want business to reinvest you have to improve the entire business climate-
and Trump has been doing that with de-regulation as well

But he talked about it and to lefties, that's good enough. Same concept is applied when lefties claim to care about the "less fortunate" then go about helping them with someone else's money.
