    Default Trump has a choice.

    Trump has a choice.

Fund the government or give up on your wall. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer laid it out very clearly for him.

He said he would not blame them, and chose to shut down the government. Now his poll numbers are suffering.

He is really backed into a corner, and trying to take the American people down with him.

Trump has muddied the issues with all his lies about terrorists etc. You can't negotiate with a liar or even decide what the best course of action is.

The notion that only one side in a standoff is involved is absolutely crazy.

Not really, Trump declares tomorrow that the Wall can wait and the Gov't gets funded, how is that not one person stopping the standoff?

Either of them can stop the standoff, Trump is not the only one who can end it. Pelosi can end it just as easily. A stand-off is a situation in which neither of two opposing groups or forces will make a move until the other one does something, so nothing can happen until one of them gives way. It can be either side that gives way.

There are other things that are more important than the wall, things like plugging loopholes in our asylum laws, E-Verify, fining employers who hire them and what have you.

Pelosi attempted to stop the standoff, the House Democrats passed legislation funding the Gov't, what has Trump done to end the standoff?

I am so glad the Democrats are not giving in. President Trump should be ignored.

It's like he is throwing this hissy fit, and he is going to punish the American people until he gets his way. Except most of the American people don't want what he wants, don't believe it is a crisis, and wish he would just go ahead and cave.

I think he should go ahead and take the heat of crying wolf and declare an official emergency and claim success. Then he will take the heat of using emergency money meant for wildfire and hurricane response. Take the money from the Florida and Puerto Rico Hurricane recovery operations which are still in progress. Take it from the California fire recoveries which are still in progress. See how popular that makes him. Have that played out in the courts. Let him face all the scrutiny of making such a stupid decision, showing how bad an executive he can be.

The longer this goes on, the more people are learning about everything our government does for us.

Now we are getting no food inspections, no transportation accident analysis, no new equipment installation approvals required to operate and go into business, no loans. Heck. The new US Senators don't even have a web page or an email contact. That's going to force determined people to fill their phone lines with messages.

Yes. Let the people learn all the government does for them. Let them learn, with every passing day, how this shut down hurts our nation. Pelosi and Schumer are ready to pass legislation to fund the government, have already passed it. It is not their fault at all. Trump is the one holding things up. He could end it any time he wants to with one signature. The crisis is sitting in the Oval Office. Everybody knows it no matter what you tell yourself. Any other President and we would not be having this problem.

And the really dumb things that now the economy has already bled more than he is asking for. What that means is not only did he not get Mexico to pay for it, he got America to pay for it without getting it. We already paid for it and we got nothing. And it will only get worse the longer he holds out.

which requires Congressional "action" which Congress doesn't do.

I agree our asylum laws are a big driver of the 'families' we are seeing crossing the border -
but Congress is incapable of doing anything about it

How so? Should she hold a gun to the heads of all the Democrats who voted to fund the government without the wall to force them to vote for a wall? It is not like it is her decision alone.
