Default People favor confirmation hearings for Supreme Court vacancy in 2020: Poll

A new poll conducted shortly before the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg revealed that an overwhelming majority of U.S. adults of all political stripes supported holding hearings for a nominee if a vacancy opened on the nation's highest bench.

Marquette University released the survey results on Saturday that showed 67% of adults believed the Senate should hold a hearing if a vacancy occurred during 2020's race, with only 32% opposition — and similar strong numbers across Republicans, Democrats, and independents, who supported holding confirmation hearings at 68-31%, 63-37%, and 71-28% respectively. The poll was completed three days before the death of Ginsburg, the 87-year-old liberal icon who was nominated by President Bill Clinton and confirmed in 1993.

A President’s responsibilities and obligations do not wane as his term draws to an end.

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

Yeah, sure, maybe bring this up from a non-swill site. You're getting into OCD territory with this one thing you're posting to death. This is at minimum your fifth now.

Obama nominated someone. 22 out of 45 Presidents have nominated for the Supreme Court during the last year of their Presidency.

And it was promptly brought to the Senate floor by Mitch McConnell? Is that your point?

How does that make a difference? If Trump loses, isn’t he a lame duck?

It would seem that those people who screamed back in 2016 nine months out from the election that the people should decide who appoints a new Justice would recognize their views today

Nominated, but not confirmed, only one nominated this close to the election, and that was under I believe Lincoln during the war.

Point being, those same individuals who four years ago denied Garland even a hearing under the pretense that it was an election year and the people should decide are now attempting to push thru a confirmation, called hypocrisy
