Default Dr. Martin Tobin's opinion of Floyd's death

The defense's medical experts are going to say something else, but the prosecution hit the first home run today.

    https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/der...-21/index.html

Dr. Martin Tobin, a physician in pulmonary and critical care medicine, testified after having reviewed the medical records in the Floyd case.

"Mr. Floyd died from a low level of oxygen," Tobin testified. "And this caused damage to his brain that we see and it also caused a PEA arrhythmia, that caused his heart to stop."

PEA means pulseless electrical activity, "which is a particular form of abnormal beat of heart — an arrhythmia," he explained.

He also shared his opinion on the cause for the low level of oxygen in Floyd. "The cause of the low level of oxygen was shallow breathing. Small breaths. Small tidal volumes. Shallow breaths that weren't able to carry the air through his lungs down to the essential areas of the lungs that get oxygen into the blood and get rid of the carbon dioxide."

Tobin also testified that fentanyl did not have an effect in "causing depression of the respiratory centers" in Floyd. Tobin said that with fentanyl, Floyd's respiratory rate should have been 10, instead the rate was at 22, which is normal.

"Basically it tells you that there isn't fentanyl on board that is affecting his respiratory centers. It's not having an effect on his respiratory centers," Tobin told the prosecution.

Tobin noted that the normal range for a respiratory rate is between 12 and 22. Tobin testified that Floyd's respiratory rate was 22 just before he lost consciousness.

Chauvin's best case is that he was praying for Floyd and lost track of time.

Floyd had Fentanyl on board—three times the amount that would be lethal to a normal person.

And this expert claims it had no effect on Floyd’s respiratory center? Why was Floyd showing signs of respiratory distress prior to being restrained?

I’m also a little skeptical the doc could do much more than speculate about Floyd’s tidal volume based on watching a video.

If it’s still permitted to be skeptical of such things.

The cross examination should be interesting.

So what caused the shallow breathing? Chauvin is only 145 lbs, Floyd is 230.

It’s going to be a challenge for the prosecution to basically eliminate the toxicology report as factor in Floyd’s death. If Floyd ultimately died from a fatal arrhythmia how can methamphetamine be eliminated as a possible cause? Or at least a contributing factor?

It goes back to the question that’s hung around from the beginning and the prosecution is trying to make it go away: would Chauvin’s actions led to the death of a person not under the influence of drugs?

Well, the prosecution just nixed the media's narrative that death was caused by compression of the carotid arteries in his neck.

Will any of the liberal mob that interfered with the police be held culpable?

No they won't. Did you see the stupid cunt emt lady who was harassing the police during the incident? She was a witness and the judge had to stop the whole fucking trial to tell the stupid fucking bitch not to argue with the court because she just wouldnt answer the defense attorney's questions. The retarded slut should lose her job.

Because your body builds up resistance to it over time. That is how drugs work.

When it's all said and done, and each side has presented it's case, the final arguments for each side will be given.

It is during these final arguments that the defense will have its best opportunity to establish reasonable doubt in the minds of the jury.

If the jury isn't too scared of popular public opinion and are set on doing their jobs, they should either acquit, or come back with 2nd degree manslaughter, which is probably the most appropriate of the three charges here, given the circumstances.

You cannot reasonably discount the drug ingestion and the heart disease as major factors in his death.

He likely didn't have much time left anyway.

These cases normally go in favor of the police officer, but I am beginning to have some hope that this one might go in favor of the people.
