I imagine people will come up all kinds of get rich easy schemes, oh just print your own money, and then there will be big rip-offs where people got stung, and then that will be the end of it. Nobody will accept it.

It's a big energy waster.

It takes all kinds of computing power to create it, lots of computers, and then you gotta pay the electricity to run 'em all, and then you gotta pay for HVAC to cool the room, all for a few dollars' worth. The value of which is highly uncertain. You could get stung with a bunch of computers you don't need and some big power bills.

What a dumb thing to be doing in this day and age when we need to be limiting energy use as much as possible.

Cryptos are probably here to stay (at least until governments can figure out how to read the transactions).
There are too many organized criminals and terrorists that love it/use it for it to ever die completely.

If, say, Bitcoin took off as a major currency in America?
That would mean that people could get their pay and pay their bills in Bitcoin.
That would mean the IRS would have no way to track your income.
