Default Democrats upset over Omar seeking primary challenger

Democrats are all about "inclusion, tolerance" etc, until it might fuck up their chances of holding power. Then they even kick their own to the curb.

Democrats upset over Omar seeking primary challenger
By Reid Wilson - 03/14/19 06:00 AM EDT

Some Minnesota Democrats, aghast at controversial comments made by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D), are taking initial steps to recruit a candidate to run against her in next year’s primary election, seeking to buck history in one of the nation’s most progressive legislative districts.

Several party leaders said they have had discussions about finding a candidate to take on Omar, just two months into her first term in Congress.

But even those who were deeply offended by Omar’s comments about Israel concede they have not yet found anyone to challenge her.

“There’s definitely some buzz going around about it, but it’s more a buzz of is anyone talking about finding someone to run against her than it is anyone saying they’re going to run against her or contemplate it. There’s definitely talk about people wanting someone to run against her,” said state Sen. Ron Latz (D), who represents a portion of Omar’s district.

In her first weeks on the job, Omar sparked outrage for comments that critics said relied on anti-Semitic tropes — first for suggesting that politicians who support Israel do so for financial reasons and then for suggesting that lobbyist are pushing for “allegiance to a foreign country.”

Those comments prompted two votes in the House condemning anti-Semitism, as well as other forms of hate speech. In Minnesota, Omar’s constituents took note.

“Our community is exasperated by Rep. Omar’s unfulfilled promises to listen and learn from Jewish constituents while seemingly simultaneously finding another opportunity to make an anti-Semitic remark and insult our community,” Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, said in a statement.

Omar met with Hunegs last month, after her initial remarks received widespread condemnation. She has continued to meet with Jewish leaders both in Minneapolis and Washington, a spokesman said.

“Unfortunately, having the opportunity to speak with her about that point didn’t dissuade her making that statement,” Hunegs told The Hill in an interview Wednesday. “We were appalled.”

If that guy was a little smarter he'd just find a republican jew to challenge her .
Imagine the outrage. White male republican jew vs. black female democrat muslim.
    Lines would be drawn.
Can't get any better than that.

A leopard doesn't change its spots. Her heart and mind are against Israel and the Jews. Any offer of an apology is superficial and meaningless anyway. Real heartfelt regret or apology is only shown when a person is not ASKED or forced to give one. She's a mess.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

Now this is confusing, last week conservatives, including Trump who was silent on Congressman King, were crying that the Democrats weren't tough enough on Omar and now, they are bitching cause some Democrats want to primary her?

I can tell you from dealing with Somali muslims first hand - they will not learn, they will not back down. I've had to kick several out of my office.

No confusion with me. Dims have shown their cards and I'm not surprised. They backed off condemning Omar and in fact stand with her.

Nothing confusing about it. Republicans see what needs to be done out of necessity. Democrats are just showing their hypocrisy.

Which of course is worse. She was not slandering a nation, she was slandering an entire population.

Latz and Hunegs are torn. They're liberal jews in a quandary about what to do about a liberal jew hating muslim who has elicited widespread support of her hatred of jews from her fellow dims in Congress. And Pelosi is in an uncomfortable position of trying to herd cats.
Ironically, I actually have sympathy with Pelosi over this. Maybe it's time for the dims to split into two parties.

They would stand a better chance. The 80% rational Democrat party and the 20% fucking nut job Democrat party. All anyone hears about now is the 20% nut jobs.

You give rational dems too much credit. If this board is a microcosm of dems nationally I'd say it's more like 95% loony nuts and 5% rational.
Just look at the announced candidates the dims have for president. I'd say 2, 3 at most are rational . Amy Klobucher and that guy from Colorado - Hickenlooper- seem somewhat rational.
