We had the same thing in Toledo,they would bus us from the South Toledo Y to the downtown Y.
No suits.
The oldtimers here in Fostoria said it was the same way.

It's a great idea,the key factor is are there pools available to teach all these kids.
I live in a small town,our YMCA makes every effort to make lessons available to all the children in town.

Our Y does as well. I would think that every parent who lives in an area with lakes or lots of backyard pools would want their children to know how to swim.
