Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) teamed up with Fox News host Tucker Carlson bash former CIA Director John Brennan and his newfound TV career, speculating about whether he has retained his security clearance now that he is going to be on TV.

During his program Thursday night, Carlson, who was especially incensed Brennan was now a senior national security and intelligence analyst at NBC, called him “an irresponsible partisan combatant” and accused him of having “threatened the president on Twitter.”

“Why in the world would he have a top-secret federal security clearance?” Carlson asked, contending that Brennan has kept his clearance based on the accounts of sources with whom Fox spoke, despite both the CIA and NBC refusing to comment on the matter to confirm.

“This is alarming,” Paul said, concerned over the possibility that Brennan might have access to personal information.

Calling the prospect alarming, the senator then wondered aloud, “can he research Donald Trump, can he research his family? Can he type my name into computer search engines, can he look at all of my information?”

“If he has top secret clearance as unhinged as he is now, he’s calling the president treasonous, saying he is for the death penalty of the president,” Paul added.

Carlson pushed his point even further, asking whether he himself could obtain top secret clearance to “find out government secrets and use them in the course of my job,” seemingly implying that Brennan could have the ability to use private information for nefarious purposes in his gig as a newser.

“I think it’s completely crazy and I think the idea that he could be passing secrets to the media, yeah, that’s alarming,” Paul said, vowing to send a letter to Trump to get to the bottom of the matter.
