Default California Supremes block measure to divide state in 3...

The state Supreme Court decided Wednesday that California will remain intact geographically, at least for now, while it decides whether the voters can consider a proposal to divide the Golden State into three new states.

The three-state initiative, Proposition 9, had gathered enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. Nine days after opponents filed suit, the court issued a unanimous order removing the measure from the ballot and ordering further legal arguments on whether it should be placed on another ballot in 2020 or struck down altogether.

Allowing California four more senators does not sound like a good idea at all. I think total secession is the smarter play for them.

Weird how folk'll say sloganeering shyte like that and then love it when it goes their way like getting a solid majority on some other supreme court thingy so that the judges will do exactly what was earlier decried.

It wasn't going to pass anyway but for a state that loves governing by the ballot box I'm surprised they would step in and prevent the people from speaking

It was a bad proposal. The better proposal was to split California in two with the farm territory north of San Francisco becoming a seperate state.
