The solution to healthcare costs is to ban health insurance. Good things happen when people pay their own costs

Example:
Senator Obama campaigned against Senator McCain in part on promise to close Gitmo his first year in office.
I believe Obama sincerely intended to do so.
iirc Obama took steps to make good on that promise. Obama was thwarted by Republicans in congress. The irony is, it cost about $1.3 $million per year per prisoner to operate Gitmo.
We could have retained that prison population for about one $tenth the $price by transporting them ("the worst of the worst" is what Bush / Cheney called them).
Obviously Republicans don't mind squandering $money, as long as it's YOUR $money.
Failing to keep a commitment is not the same as lying. I believe if Obama could have closed Gitmo his first year as president, he would have. He was prevented from doing so.
