I did not say I was against tariffs, in principle.
What I don't like is an obese pig bellowing that "trade wars are good and easy to win".
That kind of bluster has no place coming out of a presidents mouth.
There is no record of me on this board complaining about Trump's tariffs.

The Trump con was that he cared about the little guy. Trump is a sociopath who has no empathy for anyone, and his entire domestic policy, from tax cuts for the rich, to assaults on labor rights are straight out of the Wall Street handbook.

And finally, I really don't think the choice comes down to either we have Trump's tariffs, or we have no tariffs at all.
Trump is literally too stupid to know what he is doing, and I have no reason to trust his judgement on economic policy or trade policy. I am not against tariffs in principle, but I prefer that they be considered on an as-needed basis by people who know what the eff they are doing.

Oh absolutely he’s a boor and a one man wrecking crew where intelligence and diplomacy are concerned and who in their right mind isn’t alarmed by his judgement and character?

I’m just asking you to consider the long term consequences, particularly for the GOP and it’s current coalition, if Trumps actions prove correct. We’re currently watching the GOP make it’s greatest shift in its political coalitions since the Civi Rights Act was enacted and Nixon adopted the Southern strategy.

Wacko full of shit? Naaa that’s not true. He lacks the age, experience and stubbornness to be completely full off shit like me.

Well George Will has been wrong about a lot of things so take that a grain of salt. There is a time and place for everything including protectionism. Protectionism is legitimate in certain circumstances, such as, protecting developing industries, protecting intellectual property and protecting strategic industries tied to national defense, etc,.

The Elephant in the room is how certain nations use State Owned Enterprises to exploit loopholes in trade agreements or their not respecting intellectual property rights. China is guilty of both of those and the WTO has done little to correct that situation.
