No, they didn't. It's not an "about face." When did leaders on the left ever see Russia as anything aside from an adversary? Most on the left hated how he treated Clinton and Obama.

There is a huge difference between treating Russia with caution, and no longer seeing them as our "#1 geopolitical threat."

This is sort of the age of naïve foreign policy - the State Dept. has basically been dismantled, so it's not surprising. But it is alarming how few there are that understand these things beyond the mere surface level of "hey, it's always good to meet."

This is something I can definitely agree with Trump on. Diplomacy should always be the first approach, fear-mongering from the Dems on meeting with world leaders to come to peaceful solutions is frankly gross and disappointing.

But it is predictable and typical for them.
