And because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that doesn't fit in with that core belief.
Classic example of Cognitive Dissonance. I rest my case.
    Republican Congressman Ken Buck:

They had a co-worker relationship that doesn't meet the criteria for conflict of interest. Mueller was well-regarded by both parties before trump. IMO he should sue trump for slander for the way trump's working to trash his reputation.

I call bull crap on that.

You birds would be jumping straight-legged if the tables were turned on that. The lefties forced Sessions to recuse for *talking* to a Russian. Yet, Comey and Mullet can be buddies and it’s no biggie.

    Gimme a break.

The bolded is fake news. "Lefties" had zilch to do w/ Sessions recusing himself.

It’s also not the major point.

Here is the relevant statute under which Sessions recused:

    - 28 CFR 45.2 - says "no DOJ employee may participate in a criminal investigation or prosecution if he has a personal or political relationship with any person or organization substantially involved in the conduct that is the subject of the investigation or prosecution, or who would be directly affected by the outcome."

Don’t Mullet and Comey have a personal relationship?

You're welcome to post your proof of that.

Some criminals feel emboldened when they believe (rightly or wrongly) they have evaded scrutiny.

Can you prove Sessions didn't feel scrutinized?

And since you can't, can you prove the scrutiny Sessions knew he was getting had no influence on his subsequent decisions?
"It should be obvious to anyone why conservatives and libertarians should be against Trump. He has no grounding in belief. No core philosophy. No morals. No loyalty. No curiosity. No empathy and no understanding. He demands personal loyalty and not loyalty to the nation. His only core belief is in his own superiority to everyone else. His only want is exercise more and more personal power." smb / purveyor of fact 18/03/18

The lefties "forced" Sessions to recuse? Sessions hasn't spent close to 40 years in politics because people can push him around. He recused to save his career, pure and simple. Not to mention he knew he lied about everything.

It's pretty strange trying to equate a working relationship between Mueller and Comey to Sessions having meetings with the Russian government and repeatedly lying about it. Maybe cons want to make the argument that the meetings were innocent; if so, there would have been no need to lie about them.
