Mr. Trump said at an earlier news conference that “they like me a lot in the U.K.,” but he was greeted with protests on Thursday that continued into Friday, including a giant balloon depicting him as a [cell phone clutching] snarling baby in a diaper. He is largely avoiding London, telling The Sun, “When they make you feel unwelcome, why would I stay there.”

Literally the stupidest, most incoherent, least informed, most inarticulate, and most incurious President this great nation as ever had.

I assume that is why Republicans worship him. I used to illicit howls of protest from the rightwing when I said they worshipped ignorance, but it is objectively true now.

It's stunning just how LARGE and diverse the crowds are in London. I'm having a hard time trying to digest exactly what is going on there. I mean, these are the guys that voted for Britain to leave the E.U., Brexit.

I used to think it was weird that someone so offensive, so arrogant, so dim-witted, so stupid could rise to the top of the Republican Party. But when you actually think about the personal traits and attributes of rightwing posters on this forum, it all begins to make sense.


p.s., with very few exceptions I admire your thread ban list. It seems to effectively exclude racists, dunces, and liars from civilized conversation. Nice work, chap!

Thanks! The forum is amazingly different with that list filtered out. It's like people care about each other no matter what their politics. I do take each decision of whether to Ignore very seriously. That's because of my personal rule of never taking anyone off Ignore. Since it is a one way trip I want to be sure each time. Hatred is so negative. I am not here to be anybody's therapist, I don't want to be immersed in hatred, don't want to live with it, see it as pointless. Expressing hatred and disrespect is the fast lane to my Ignore list. Anybody can do that once. That's on them. If I allow it a second time, that's on me. I am not going to allow it to go on after it is clear it is to be expected. People need to find somebody else to rag on.

Very similar to the way I treat tailgaters. I refuse to tolerate it. Somebody attaches themselves to my ass, my foot comes off the gas. It is just that simple. Most get the idea pretty quickly. I am not going to be confrontational, no brake checks. Just gradually slowing down. If that doesn't do it, I will look for an exit, pull off, pull over, turn off then get back on, whatever I have to do. I will not be tailgated period. It's just not worth it. And it is so nice to drive anywhere I want to go and never have anybody riding my bumper. They can try for a little while, that's on them. But if I allow it, that's on me. They need to find somebody else's bumper to attach themselves to.

Some people are just so insecure they can't put their ideas out there to the scrutiny of others without the threat of insults, and/or they can't leave a safe stopping distance for fear that they will get cut off, be left behind, whatever. It's not worth risking your sanity or your safety over when there are easy effective ways to deal with obnoxiousness.

It takes a little longer to deal with an obnoxious leader, but one day we will be rid of him, and we will be the better for it.

As for his followers, We love all our fellow Americans, but we need you to know that we disagree with you and we will not let you change our country forever. You and your leader can make the biggest mess you want to out of this country; we will oust your leader, denounce your hateful ways, move back into power, pick up the pieces and renew the never ending task of making America great the way we see fit despite you. We will put America back on course to understanding, compassion and the great power of diversity. We may be equal under the law but we come from many cultures and that is part of what makes America great.

And we will tax the rich more to pay down the debt, pay for universal healthcare, and eventually for a universal basic income; after power hungry capitalists self destruct and eliminate most jobs with AI automation. White evangelicals, so crucial to Trump, are old and dying out. The young are diverse, many more of them Hispanic, and they will not be joining the hateful xenophobic right wing. Capitalists will still be able to make lots of money, be richer than anybody else, and socialists will have a society in which we promote the general welfare of these great united states of America.

ps. Puerto Ricans ARE Americans and since so many of them have been forced off their island, they are allowed to move anywhere they want to in the 50 States, and when they do, they are allowed to vote for representatives and senators and every other office. No immigration papers required. Trump's poor treatment of that island will help defeat him, and more importantly his type, in future elections.
