So the entire purpose of NATO is to protect Europe fro the big, bad Russian Bear.

Apparently Europe is still skeered of Russia

So if Europe is so skeered of Russia and needs the United States to help why on earth would they turn their energy needs over to Russia?

Seems to me Germany is more at threat from Russia’s control over their energy needs than an actual invasion

Can any liberal explain?

IMO, our ME policy used to be shaped by our great dependence on their oil. Nord Stream will create a similar scenario for Germany.
