Democrats like you are good at crying wolf. Libs said Florida would be under water. The Florida beaches are still open for business.

    From your link:

His administration also is stepping up federal leases for offshore wind energy development.
Why doesn't that make you happy Kenny? Don't you like renewable energy?

The dismantling of environmental protections will probably be his biggest legacy.

president said he was creating a smaller Ocean Policy Committee while eliminating "duplicative" regional planning bodies created under Obama.

But he said federal agencies could participate in regional partnerships formed by states. His administration has encouraged a "cooperative federalism" approach that shifts more responsibility to state governments.

Can you outline for us exactly what this "ocean protecting" policy did? Please be specific.

It was a good measure. The gist of it was stricter drilling review process, ensuring coastal states were equipped to handle an emergency, stricter safety requirements, etc. Basically everyone including the U.S. Government had to actually make a real attempt to ensure something like the Deepwater Horizon did not happen again. Now, in all fairness, as all good government ideas do, it morphed into much more regulation for things that had nothing to do with man made environmental disasters. All in all though I personally think Obama did the right thing here when he did it.

You are correct that the beaches are still open, but it is not true that liberals said Florida would be under water by now. That part is pure exaggeration. Actually, those beaches will be much more accessible because they will soon be extending much further inland.

"According to the Southeast Florida Regional Compact Climate Action Plan, updated in October 2015, sea level will rise 6 to 10 inches by 2030, 14 to 26 inches by 2060 and 31 to 61 inches by 2100.

    ...

South Florida is taking more steps to protect against climate change and the rising seas that already are spilling over into neighborhoods.

This month, Broward County ordered that new flood maps be drawn using predictions of higher waters, the latest in a series of steps taken from Palm Beach County to the Keys.

Fort Lauderdale raised the required height of sea walls and the elevation of home sites; Delray Beach added valves to keep salt water out of the city drainage system; Broward County put a financing program in place for homeowners who want to tap solar energy.

    ...

Just five years ago, critics accused the Broward County Commission of falling into a United Nations “Agenda 21’’ plot to take control over America, when what was then referred to as “global warming’’ came up. Since then, climate change planning has become as ordinary in South Florida government as hardening for hurricanes.

    ...

“We have to do all we can to effect a slowing of climate change, of sea level rise, whatever we can do,’’ said Broward Commissioner Nan Rich, a former state senator. “And I don’t think that a good percentage of it is about money. It’s about how we live, what kind of development we have.’’

South Florida has been nationally recognized for leadership on the issue. "

If it morphed into unneeded, onerous regulation, how can you still deem it good?

Good question. It reduced the chance something like that would happen again because of Government ineptitude and big business just doing what they wanted. It was working. The unneeded regulation carried over to many maritime industries that had nothing to do with Deepwater Horizon or offshore drilling in general. That was my only complaint about it. Every time something happens and the Government steps in to try and make sure it does not again, the bills, laws, E.O.s get so laden with pork it not only punishes other industries, it takes away from the original intended purpose.

I love liberal predictions. As a favor to me, could you please be more definitive?
