To me, some of it depends not on the length of the commute, but on the quality and nature of the commute.

There is a big difference between sitting in bumper to bumper traffic in a concrete metropolitan jungle,
and cruising in light traffic on a scenic rural road.
40 minutes of commute time in one is not equivalent to 40 minutes in the other. One of them can actually suck the life out of your soul!

I work out of my "week" home, the on Friday night commute about 2 hours to my "weekend" home, commute back on Sunday night. I travel a lot to visit job sites; last year nearly 13,000 miles.

I have had both types of commutes, and the one on the scenic rural road is pretty painless, and even pleasant.

I can relate to that. In my situation a voyage around the Cape Horn compared to cruising around the Caribbean.

Isn't that like saying a truck driver on his route is commuting?

Are you able to keep yourself focused, or do you sometimes find yourself getting distracted by things you need to get done around the house?
so far the project that i'm on hasn't required alot of my focus, but that's changing. to be honest, I was getting bored sitting on my xbox waiting for an email to come in for something to be done.
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

I feel your pain. Well, not really. lol I did PT at-home typesetting for several years when my kids were very young, at the same time I was running an in-home daycare. It took a lot of self-discipline to stay focused and get the work done. I loved it though... nice not to have to get dressed up, drive there, drive home, spend extra $$ for gas, etc.
