Baker Cancels National Guard Deployment To Border, Citing 'Inhumane' Treatment Of Children And Famil
Governor Charlie Baker is canceling the deployment of Massachusetts National Guard troops to the border in light of recent reports about the Trump Administration’s practice of separating immigrant children from families.
“Governor Baker directed the National Guard not to send any assets or personnel to the Southwest border today because the federal government’s current actions are resulting in the inhumane treatment of children,” said Baker communications director Lizzy Guyton in a statement sent to WGBH News.
State officials announced early in June that Massachusetts National Guard troops would be deployed to the border to support in security operations. One helicopter, aircrew, and military analysts from Massachusetts were set to head to the border at the end of June.
The crew was to “provide aviation reconnaissance to offer an additional tool for observation and tracking of unlawful activity in the region,” according to the Mass National Guard.

ONE-N-DONE, YOU GOT PLAYED; Time To Play-On
Remember ... ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES ... So STFU Bitch
Just keeping up with the news. One of the problems (as far as numbers) are those turning up from Central America asking for asylum because of the crime situation in their nation. Critics complain they have been taught to say that their lives are in danger to meet legal requirements. And, the administration is encouraging immigrants to cross at ports of entry.
"Some administration officials say they’re prosecuting immigrants (and separating families) for a simple reason: They want to stop people from coming into the US illegally between ports of entry. “You have an option to go to a port of entry and not illegally cross into our country,” Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told a Senate committee last month."

HAs any liberal ever in their life gave rational thought to anything?
For most conservatives I know, and I would argue most conservatives by just way of our thinking almost always do.
This issue of separating children is case in point.
My default thought process when I hear this is
Ok, picture it, n illegal shows up at the border, either dark of night in the desert or at a marked crossing, and he, or she is ILLEGAL, and with children in tow.
I assume they have to be detained and processed, right, can't just say welcome aboard here's a number make sure you show up in court on the 24th.
In addition many have no resources with them, Most don't I would think, so they have to be processed., detained if you will.
My guess, through logical deduction is wherever the children are being taken to is a lot better condition for the children than where the adults are being held.
So a little research finds that to be true, they are fed well, clothed, around other children and even get some schooling, medical attention.
And even more striking is the fact that the parents know there is an option, don't jump the border, keep your children with you, and get in line with the rest of the potential qualifying to become a citizen, LEGAL refugee, seek asylum in your home country.
But Rather a liberal stops at "Trump is ripping children from their mothers arms" end of subject Trump is bad.
Governor Baker of Massachusetts is not a Republican, he sold his soul to the devil to be a governor in that state, make no mistake about it.
This just In::: Trump indicted for living in liberals heads and not paying RENT

Trump Is Coming back to a White House Near you
News isn't necessarily factual, is it?
Then there's this, from the article you cited:
There are also some cases in which immigrant families are being separated after coming to ports of entry and presenting themselves for asylum — thus following US law. It’s not clear how often this is happening, though it’s definitely not as widespread as separation of families who’ve crossed illegally.
You'll recall that you made this statement:
True. I did not suggest they are all eligible for asylum or refugee status, but they appear asking for that status.
U. S. Customs & Border Protection
How Many?
In FY 2017 111,275 individuals were deemed inadmissible compared to 150,825 in FY16, 114,486 in FY15 and 90,601 in FY14.
OFO inadmissibility metrics include: individuals encountered at ports of entry who are seeking lawful admission into the United States but are determined to be inadmissible, individuals presenting themselves to seek humanitarian protection under our laws; and individuals who withdraw an application for admission and return to their countries of origin within a short timeframe."
