Bill Maher Tackles Wave of Police Beating Videos: 'We Need to Stop Saying Most Cops Are Good'

"If most cops are good, why are there so many videos of them being bad?"

There seems to be an up-tick in police beatings and killings too, since Trump took office?!!

Bill Maher took on the subject of police brutality on his Friday night HBO show, calling out the epidemic of police brutality and saying it's time to stop discussing the situation as one that involves a few bad actors and start confronting the apparently rampant abuses that've been exposed by amateur videographers in recent years.

"We need to stop saying most cops are good like we know that to be true," Maher said. "I hope that's true, but I need some evidence—unlike cops."

Maher says he wants numbers, citing the fact that the sample size he's seeing in videos make him believe that the problem is more common than police report in anonymous surveys.

"If most cops are good, why are there so many videos of them being bad?" he said. "Just in the last month we've seen 'just a few bad ones' beating the suntan lotion off a skinny girl in a bikini [3], 'completely atypical officers' mercilessly wailing on a homeless guy in Oregon [4] and 'totally non-representative policeman' beating a black man in Arizona [5]. That's a lot of videos of guys who barely exist doing sh*t that hardly ever happens."

And Maher pointed out that the "thin blue line" is a problem, because cops rarely report abuse by fellow officers.

"This is why NFL players want to take a knee, not because they hate the anthem," he said.

Body cams and videos expose the Police and how they treat civilians. 'Social Justice' effects ALL of us and it's not just 'Black Lives Matter'.

Everyone of those veterans were shot during the Obama administration. Now Bill Maher thinks it is a big problem? Guess since the "Russian Collusion" thing is dead as fuck, he has to do something to make ratings right? That guy is an idiot.

    There it is, right there.

Power structures always roll this stuff out onto more vulnerable segments of society first, to acclimate and desensitize the wider population to the phenomenon and abuse of power. Then once established as background noise that never gets addressed, it can be rolled out onto other segments of society as a means of social control of the entire population. It's an intentional version of mission creep.

Our police departments have been militarized, that's no accident. Neither is it an accident that we have corporate for profit prisons with legalized slavery in the form of corporate convict labor leasing; the nearest thing americans are going to get to a jobs program - get convicted. This concept got rolled out onto the landscape via a pilot program involving CCA (Corrections Corporation of America) and the state of TN when now senator Lamar Alexander was Gov of TN. Turns out he and his sweet wife Honey Alexander held stock in CCA at the time. Win win.

The power strcture understands full well it has lost all semblance of legitimacy and that more and more it will be forced to rely upon force and violence to hold the entire colonial empire wealth extraction paradigm together for the aristocracy.

    Most cops are good people

all those films are but a fraction of police interaction with the public

Just like Fox broadcasts every single incident they can find of black crime to make viewers hate black people there is no reason to think every cop hates non white people

we need to know every time a cop beats a citizen

we dont need to see every crime committed placed on TV

Fox wants its viewers living in total fear of their fellowman

fearful people are easier to control

Pathetic comment. No better than those who condemn Islam based on the actions of a small % of Muslims.

Well you know what they say about good people saying and doing nothing. And plenty of them are saying nothing and holding citizens down for their buddies to beat on and murder. But hey, it's mainly "certain" people for now.
