Default German MP predicts Merkel could be ousted by the end of next week

Speaking on BBC World at One, the German politician claimed clashes between Angela Merkel and German interior minister Horst Seehofer could result in a "new political situation" in Germany by the end of next week. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician said it was still unclear in Berlin what the essence of the disagreement between the Chancellor and Mr Seehofer was and that other members of the coalition had been left "in the blue".

Mr Whittaker said: “We are in a serious situation because the question of the migration crisis evolved into a power question. The question is who is leading the Government? Is it Angela Merkel or is it Horst Seehofer?"

Good. She is insufferable. Whatever weakens the EU is fine by me.

I knew all along that the German people would resist this stain on their culture and sovereignty.

Berlin (AFP) - As Chancellor Angela Merkel fights to save her government in a heated battle over immigration, an opinion poll Friday showed most Germans support the tougher line of her rebel interior minister.

The survey found that 62 percent of respondents were in favour of turning back undocumented migrants at the border, in line with the stance of Interior Minister Horst Seehofer who is openly challenging Merkel.

And 86 percent want faster deportations of rejected asylum seekers, a process now often held up by bureaucratic hurdles and legal challenges,
according to the Infratest dimap poll.

The survey turns up the pressure on Merkel, who has faced a backlash for allowing into Germany more than one million people fleeing war and misery in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere since 2015.

The mass influx sparked the rise of the far-right and anti-Islam AfD party, which entered parliament last September.

Merkel's welcome to refugees also infuriated Seehofer and his CSU, the sister party of her Christian Democrats in the southern state of Bavaria, which became the main entry point for most migrants.

In an unprecedented split between the CDU and CSU, Seehofer has openly defied Merkel with a demand to allow border police to turn back migrants who lack valid identity papers or are already registered in another EU country.

Seehofer also sacked Jutta Cordt, the head of the Office for Migrants and Refugees (BAMF), an interior ministry spokesman said late Friday.

The BAMF has been at the heart of a scandal around the right of asylum for several weeks, with one of its branches in Bremen, northern Germany, under investigation for allegedly favouring more than 1,200 asylum applications.

The CSU's Bavarian state premier Markus Soeder said that the ongoing "asylum tourism" meant that, as a government, "we're nearing the endgame when it comes to our credibility".

"The people are running out of patience," he told Bild daily.

Merkel argues that Germany must not take the sudden and unilateral step of rejecting asylum seekers at the border, which would add to the burden faced by frontline countries like Italy and Greecehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/merkel-mi...095257349.html

That's probably the most hysterical thing I've ever heard. So, couple things…

You want to talk about Nazis? Lets talk about the Nazis in the current government of Ukraine. Merkel and the EU absolutely love them, and I'm sure you love them as well. After all, they persecute ethnic Russians, and you seem to really hate Russians, as most people do nowadays because of the Red Scare 2.0 trend.

Also, not a Trump supporter, but I'm so happy that you unnecessarily and randomly brought his name up as if that would be an automatic "gotcha!".

Also, yes, the EU is un-ironically bad. But I guess anyone who disagrees automatically wants Russia to take over the entire world in your view, because apparently we live in a comic book world where the legion of doom is Russia, and the "good guys" are the fascist EU, run by sociopathic bankers with absolutely no moral compass who overthrow democratically elected governments. Such good guys, much democracy.

Who are the Nazis in the current Ukrainian government?

I think that the Svoboda party, which is sometimes described as fascist, has had no government ministers since 2014.

On Sunday, US President Barack Obama, in an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakiria, explained that the United States “brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine.” The US President said that Russian President Vladimir Putin made his decision to legally annex Crimea “not because of some grand strategy, but essentially because he was caught off-balance by the protests in the Maidan.”

In late 2013 a decision by Ukraine then-President Viktor Yanukovych to avoid signing an association agreement with the European Union triggered mass protests across Ukraine, dubbed Maidan, culminating in the February coup. Following the coup and a rise in aggressive nationalism in the country, Crimea seceded by referendum from Ukraine and rejoined Russia in March 2014.
