somebody started a thread on the debt increase. Like that is the measure of an economy (not). Ryan's budget sucked but because of sequestor Trump had to sign it - we are losing training aircraft, missions, and skilled personnel.

The economy is starting to boom by ALL MEASURES, even with interest rate increases!
They hate it. A booming economy hurts their TDS. It sucks to be them. Oh well- Yankee Doodle

Me2. And I think he's growing into the presidency -less Twitter wars more good results.
Trump has outstanding political /geopolitical instincts. I call him a "restless figure" (literary reference) -
he's constantly on the move to MAGA

    His instincts speak for themselves.

There’s also a Twitter vs Real life Trump. To judge Trump on his Tweets will definitely mislead a person: his gratuitous use of hyperbole and exclamations makes him sound unhinged, at times. But when you listen to him talk it’s another matter.

Just a minute ago Trump was talking about cutting down the time it takes approve highway construction down from 9 years to 2 years—and he’s still not happy with it.

The point is 90% of what Trump is talking about makes absolute sense. It’s how he got elected.

^ yep. he got the details wrong on "who lost Crimea" , but he did get the idea that Obama stopped talking to Putin
    and undermined the Ukrainian maidan.
None of which matters if he ever gets around to a Putin summit -they'll work thru it.

Stuff like highway construction permitting is things DC won't look at -they are too busy with Russian collusion.
So Trump just looks around for things to fix..really what more could you ask for from a POTUS?

Trump was right- I am getting tired of winning. With the economy booming, I have way too much work on my plate. I can't get anyone to re-stain my deck because all the contractors are the same way- too much work, too few people and hours. And all the traffic, people travelling back and forth to work. Then there's the damn road construction- it's literally everywhere here.

I provide technical and design services to contractors. I lost 60% of my clients during the Obamaeconomy. Contractors who had been in business for over 100 years here filed bankruptcy and went out of business. I was able to adapt and keep busy, albeit at a slower pace than before. But now, there are few contractors around. Lots of guys in their late 50's and early to mid 60's, super experienced, took early retirement and are out of the workforce. It's a big problem.

Medicade expansion done under Obama, and HC costs in general raise the deficit now-
there are all kinds of reasons.
we have a structural debt problem.

But annual GDP growth of near 4% are double then under Obama.
Don't forget wages are stubborn, but about 3% now -an improvement from Obama of 1-2%,
and they will go up more from here as the expansion continues.

Trying to look at one small slice of the economy, and not the entire thing gives a false impression.

In general we are getting economic expansion driven by consumer spending even with interests rates going up!
    That's outstanding.
Ah, the interest rates started to rise minimally less than a year ago and the accelerated Gov't deficits began before that time, nice try

It still makes zero sense in conservative economics why in an advancing economy Gov't deficits are rising, Obama kept the deficits lower even when as you note the GDP was much less than it is now. And it seems I have to remind a conservative again, Obama was recovering from a historical level recession, Trump received a gift wrapped advancing economy the day he took office, his only accomplishment was not blowing it

Lastly, funny now hearing a conservative refer to deficits/debt as a "small slice of the economy," especially since it was their supposed number one issue for eight years straight. And in addition, how many times did we hear the right wing media echo "labor participation rates" and "market bubble" to explain strengthening economic indicators? Seems "slices" of the economy we're pretty important to them the.
