Default What exactly did Trump get for the US in Singapore that deserves praise?

"Donald Trump Has Successfully Cleaned Up North Korea's Brand"

"Only a couple months ago, North Korea’s brand was synonymous with some of the worst and most menacing threats to global stability. Horrendous human rights violations. The prospect of nuclear war. Debilitating cyberattacks."

"The summit has significantly strengthened North Korea’s brand. They got conditional re-admittance to the respected community of nations."

"The most enduring result of the summit may well be that North Korea emerges with a significantly enhanced global image. They are now viewed as a relatively reasonable and even respected actor on the world stage. In all likelihood, the country will enjoy this position while still retaining its nuclear weapons."

    time.com/5309862/trump-kim-north-korea-brand/?utm_source=time.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign =the-brief-pm&utm_content=2018061217pm&xid=newsletter-brief&eminfo=%7b"EMAIL"%3a"um7IbVutPWteX51YozjDUns Visiw%2b%2b5u"%2c"BRAND"%3a"TD"%2c"CONTENT"%3a"New sletter"%2c"UID"%3a"TD_TBP_87D2F5A1-CF15-43CE-BFB6-A7A0B2D8F390"%2c"SUBID"%3a"84462761"%2c"JOBID"%3a" 772666"%2c"NEWSLETTER"%3a"THE_BRIEF_PM"%2c"ZIP"%3a "132192202"%2c"COUNTRY"%3a""%7d

So Kim got legitimacy, a postponement of US/South Korea military operations, a US commitment to lesson sanctions while offering the prospect of substantial outside aid and investment

Other than another promise to denuclearize, what substantially did the great dealer maker get for the US?

^ A process that could take a decade or more to carry out.

trump probably sees this as a business opportunity. They'll put up a hotel and he'll license his name to them.

Trump gave away the farm. He called a ruthless dictator, smart, funny and talented. He said his people love him. Trump suggested that NK would be happy to denuke. Really, what is North Korea without nukes? Sorry, but Trump blew a big one.

Is that something? What does that mean, "a process?" Is that an agreement to agree on something?

It was a serious question, I'm having a difficult time understanding what the US accomplished in Singapore compared to what North Korea gained

Waiting for any conservative to explain it

He got another piece of paper from the North Koreans saying "Yeah, sure, we're going to 'de-nuclearize'.

Plus, a big photo op for his base to rally around. There will be Parades with Huge Banners exclaiming "Peace in Our Time". Aloyisious, PMP, volsrock, sirthinksalot, and Eagle eye will be out front with giant American Flags followed by dancing Cheerleaders.

The News Conference Trump gave after the Signing actually sounded optimistic and positive. I hope it's true and Trump was able to 'read' Kim Jong-Un. Maybe we can get a Peace Treaty, that WOULD be a start.

I heard some talking heads today say that the process of denuclearization can take 10 years or more.

I agree with you. We got nothing. Kim played trump like a violin.

When you start a race, is that nothing?

I guess Trump should have done nothing like Obama and we can be in the same place in 10 years.

Yeah, real good.... Hey kids, don't start college, it takes years to get a degree, you don't get squat your first day, so do nothing.

What did the US get out of this?

If trump were a normal human being he could have asked for NK to close their concentration camps. Instead he said that Kim, a brutal dictator and human rights abuser, "loves his people."

His sucking up makes me gag.

Everything. It is the democrats standard of accomplishment. If you're going to whine about Trump, you cannot support Obama's Nobel prize.

You can't have it both ways.

It is a simple question, but none of them can answer it, what did the US get out of this?
