We have the intellect to imagine the finality of our own demise but do not have the sophistication to overcome our survival instinct and accept it.
Solution? Magical thinking and childish promises of everlasting life.
Ergo, religion.
rac·ist
rāsəst/noun
a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another.
Ask yourself honestly if this describes what you believe to be true.
If the answer is yes, you are a racist.
I am not a "theist", Cat...and if I were, I would not have to "admit" it. I would acknowledge it. There is nothing at all wrong with being a theist...just as there is nothing at all wrong with being an atheist.
People do not "admit" being either...they acknowledge it.
I do not like labels.
Here is my position:
I do not know if gods exist or not;
I see no reason to suspect gods CANNOT EXIST...that the existence of gods is impossible;
I see no reason to suspect that gods MUST EXIST...that gods are needed to explain existence;
I do not see enough unambiguous evidence upon which to base a meaningful guess in either direction...
...so I don't.
Even someone as close-minded as you should be able to see that I am not a theist.
That doesn't even make sense.I feel sorry for you and your inability to commit to what you claim to be.
I don't really care what I remind you of.You remind me of USFREEDOM.
People like USFREEDOM, at least are honest enough to acknowledge that they are working using "faith."
You, on the other hand, laughingly pretend you KNOW the shit you do not know.
Anyway...thank for accommodating me with more posts. I love ya for it.

We fear ONLY the KNOWN. It is impossible to fear the unknown. We didn't know about Bin laden and so we did not fear him...until 9/11-ish.
After the fear is KNOWN we pass down that knowledge to the following generation. [That is how declarations of Peace are evolved into being.]
That's how test pilots got famous. Then it becomes text book knowledge.
Fear manifests from the knowledge of it. We must be taught what to fear and what not to fear. If you are the first to discover a new fear ---you'll run out and broadcast it far and wide...and inform those that don't yet know.
I don't fear something until I learn to be scared of it ---this starts with not ignoring the possibilities.
We do learn by the "carrot or the stick" method.
Dear Truth Detector, you work against UNTRUTH will go on a long time. Happy Hunting!
I wrote as a real Theist. I politely omitted almost every esoteric term and used generic terminolgy ---I simplified the language for the Good Ol Boys to read. This makes me the orthodox conservative.
Bad Karma is an orthodox conservative territory ---it's not neo-anything. Chewing the cud is perennial.
