The Syrian Kurds and Damascus have already had a round of talks, which was sponsored by Russia, but it produced no results.

Syrian President Bashar Assad's government is torn between going against the Kurds for collaborating with the US or negotiating with them.

On Thursday, he warned US-backed Kurdish forces Damascus would not hesitate to use force to retake the third of the country they control if negotiations failed.

Mays Kraydiyyeh of the Syrian Democratic Front said Assad’s warning was “not aimed at Syrians but at Americans and foreign interference”.

he Kurds have long pushed for increased autonomy in northeastern Syria.

After Damascus forces withdrew from Kurdish-majority areas in 2012, Kurds worked on building a semi-autonomous region only in the areas they control.

Kurdish militia control around 28 percent of Syrian territory, including large parts of the northern border with Turkey.

Walid Mohi Edine al Muallem, Syrian foreign minister said last year that self-administration for the Kurds is “negotiable.”

After all the Kurds have done, it would be criminal if Erdogan and Assad tried to eradicate them.

I'm all agreed that the Northern Federation remain an autonomous part of Syria.

"The Democratic Federation of Northern Syria, commonly known as Rojava, is a de facto autonomous region in northern Syria. It consists of three self-governing regions: Afrin Region, Jazira Region, and Euphrates Region. Wikipedia"

That's what they want to do. Except for American Troops, that would be the Main Goal of Turkey and the Assad Government.

There's an autonomous Kurd region in Iraq, there should be the same in Syria.
I think the problem is: 'Does the Northern Federation control EVERYTHING east of the Euphrates, or just the northern part?'

    "Legal system[edit]
Syrian civil laws are valid in the DFNS if they do not conflict with the Constitution of the DFNS. One notable example for amendment is personal status law, which in Syria is based on Sharia[131] and applied by Sharia Courts,[132] while secular the DFNS proclaims absolute equality of women under the law, and has bans of forced marriage, polygamy[17] and underage marriage.[133] For the first time in Syrian history, civil marriage is allowed and promoted, a significant move towards a secular open society and intermarriage between people of different religious backgrounds.[13]"

So, Anatta. You support Sharia Law over Secular Law?
I'll stand with the People of the Northern Federation.
