India’s defense council approves S-400 deal despite Washington’s pressure – report

India’s Defense Ministry has reportedly given the green light for the acquisition of the Russian S-400 air defense systems and has forwarded the deal for final approval, despite a warning from the US of potential consequences.
After endorsing some “minor deviations” in the contract, defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman forwarded the 39,000 crore ($5.7bn) deal to purchase S-400 for final government approval, to the finance ministry and the Prime Minister’s office, sources told the Times of India.

Word is getting around. If you want protection from US aggression- buy the S-400.

The suspicion is, it appears, that any American system will have a hidden back-door over-ride. Thank you, Mr. Snowden and Mr. Assange. Nobel Peace Prize apiece.

I have no objections to any nation buying defensive systems. As for offensive systems- well therein lie all the problems of the world today.
Round 'em up. Send for the tumbrels.

Maybe the Pentagon can find some of that missing $23 trillion missing dollars to pay for new weapons to counter Russia's superior weapons.

How do you actually know that? As far as I know it's never been tested in combat conditions.

    Thank you.
This is simply typical of how he posts, funny it is the first time you noticed.

In his pursuit of defense of anything Trump he has had to surrender his honesty, sadly he is entirely unaware of this new defect in his character.

It may be everything they say it is, but I can't blame the Russians for not wanting to show up any shortcomings to potential customers.

look at the specs. It's an integrated air defense system, not just a missile.
Russia is known for it's SAM -they put a lot of development into it.

Russia's S-400 Is Way More Dangerous Than You Think
    http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the...ou-think-24116
the S-400 is the real game changer. The reason is the multiple intercept missiles the S-400 system can fire. The S-400 supports four different missiles – the very long range 40N6E-series (400 km), the long range 48N6 (250 km), the 9M96e2 (120 km) and the short range 9m96e (40 km). By comparison the US Patriot system supports only one interceptor missile with a range of 96 km.

But there is more. The 9M96E2 is one of the jewels of the S-400 system. It flies at Mach 15 (around 5,000 meters per second or 18,500 kph), it can engage targets as low as 5 meters off the ground, and it can maneuver pulling up to 20 Gs (a human can withstand no more than 9 Gs with special pressure suits and helmets and for only a few seconds). It is designed to knock out penetrating aircraft and missiles flying “off the deck” or just above ground and neutralize cruise missiles.

Dr. Carlo Kopp, one of the world’s top aerospace experts, says the S-400 has optional acquisition radars designed to defeat modern stealth aircraft such as the F-22 and the F-35. They work by operating in multiple frequency bands including both VHF and L bands that can “see” stealth-protected fighters.
