President Trump questioned on Saturday why the FBI never informed him that it was examining Russian interference in the 2016 election when the bureau began using a spy to meet with his campaign advisers.

Earlier this month, The Washington Post admitted that an FBI spy met with at least three Trump campaign advisers in 2016.

Select lawmakers met with top Justice Department officials this week in a pair of classified meetings to discuss the use of the spy, who has been identified in media reports as Stefan Halper.
