There is no infringement of protest rights, and no punitive action threatened against protesters.

But it is left up to each team to make the rules so some will be harsh others soft.

The rule in the OM states that a League fine only applies to the teams. What the teams do outside that rule has nothing to do with the League. It's a team decision.

This "issue" was disappearing last year, until Trump needed a distraction. Now, it's perfect for him - w/ the NFL's latest ruling, the players will resist, and now this big "issue" will keep going, on & on. Trump "wins" again.

While some acts of protest are generally considered "protest" in law, the NFL is not the government, so First Amendment rights are not at issue.

My only quibble is that it's possible the "pressure" the NFL bowed to was more financial than political.
