When citizens are forced to by government it is. Employers can demand specific conduct from their employees while on the job. There's nothing authoritarian about it.

So any athletes in the NFL who want to politically protest should do it off the field.

That's very disrespectful and sad.... But, then, you're a Steeler's fan, aren't you? So I'm not too surprised....

The football players have all the rights than conservatives have. I read they have the option of staying in the locker room. Be interesting if the whole team waited there. The players were not involved in the decision. it was one that only impacted them.

Answer is easy. Quit having the national anthem played at sporting events. It is a relatively new phenomenon and should be stopped. It causes unneeded strife and trouble.

This whole mess is Trumps fault. He paid no attention to why players were kneeling. He turned into something it was not. Trump lies as he breathes.

No. I'm confident that some lefties think our nation's flag is a hate symbol.

Legislation that would criminalize political symbols has been proposed and endorsed by leftists.

Are you refusing to march in liberal lock-step?

The NFL told players not to wear pink symbols after Breast Cancer Awareness month. I say fair enough. I don't agree with the NFL telling players they can't protest government without a penalty. And that doesn't mean just money but forcing them to stay in the locker room.

This is an authoritarian statement. It's outrageous. "You have to stand proudly for the National Anthem or you shouldn't be playing. You shouldn't be there. Maybe you shouldn't be in the country," Trump said.

Are you equating staying out of sports altogether with staying off the field?

Seriously, why do people care about this?

It's a protest. Dissent is patriotic. If you care about this, but think Trump is right to relentlessly discredit the FBI, others in our intel community, the State Dept. and the media, you're somewhat hypocritical.

Does your dig at Steelers fans apply to the one in your house also? Hope so, given your constant comments about two sets of rules.

You have every right to stand, put your hand on your heart, sing along, whatever. You don't have the right to tell others what they must do.

Engaging in political protest on the field is putting politics into sports. You said you're good with keeping politics out of sports altogether.
