No one could have predicted it was a bad idea for Trump to leap like an eager puppy dog to accept a date with Kim Jong, and to then roam the United States bragging about his imminent Nobel Peace prize.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/22/w...ea-summit.htmlTrump Backs Away From Demand for Immediate North Korean Denuclearization,
Mr. Trump is willing to give up what for months has been his bedrock position in dealing with the North.
WASHINGTON — President Trump opened the door on Tuesday to a phased dismantling of North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, backing away from his demand that the North’s leader, Kim Jong-un, completely abandon his arsenal without any reciprocal American concessions.
The president’s hint of flexibility came after North Korea declared last week that it would never agree to unilaterally surrender its weapons, even threatening to cancel the much-anticipated summit meeting between Mr. Kim and Mr. Trump scheduled for next month in Singapore.
Mr. Trump’s statement seemed less a policy shift than an effort to preserve his date with Mr. Kim. But while the gesture may avoid a swift rejection by Mr. Kim, it shows that Mr. Trump is willing to give up what for months has been his bedrock position in dealing with the North.
And it demonstrates that three weeks before the June 12 meeting, the White House is still groping for a strategy to negotiate with a reclusive, suspicious nuclear-weapons state.

What's he said all along for the past 2 years?
By now I trust his instincts. Maybe he smells a Chinese rat? Maybe Kim's cooling? It'll happen when it happens.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
pain in abortion.

It seems like mere days - even hours - ago that you wingnuts were singing accolades to Trump and cracking open champagne bottles in anticipation of the imminent Nobel peace prize.
I guess you very belatedly agree with me that the celebrations were far too premature, and the optics of the Orange Hog leaping to accept a date with Kim Jong were amateurish and ill advised.

grovel?? such hubris!
A phased dismantling is called for and fine IF the outcome leads to NK's inability
to launch ICBMs..That is the existential threat that drives all possible negotiations .
It has to be agreed to, and there has to be metrics and procedures followed

I didn't chime in with any champagne cork popping posts. As it sits, two good things have occurred already. We got back our prisoners and got Kim and Moon talking. We'll get there.

North and South Korea were making a lot of progress and should have continued without U.S. interference. If allowed to do so, the nuclear issues might have resolved themselves.

Here's another one of those "who could have predicted?" moments.
The North Koreans, particularly in the wake of the scuttled Iran deal, have expressed concerns about the longevity of any U.S. security guarantee

Ill conceived, badly planned and not at all well thought out, Trump's big meeting with Kim will likely prove to be an enormous embarrassment, if not canceled.
We have the intellect to imagine the finality of our own demise but do not have the sophistication to overcome our survival instinct and accept it.
Solution? Magical thinking and childish promises of everlasting life.
Ergo, religion.

If the answer is yes, you are a racist.

About a month or so ago Kim blew up his main tunnel from taking one too many shots at the hill on top of it, LOL
